Ohio University’s College of Business to host Ohio Business Week 2017

The Ohio Business Week Foundation is partnering with Ohio University’s College of Business and the Center for Entrepreneurship to provide high school students with an opportunity to prepare for college and practice entrepreneurship like Business Bobcats.

Ohio Business Week 2017 will be held on the Ohio University Athens Campus from July 16-22.

“The College of Business provides students with transformational learning experiences,” said Dr. Chris Moberg, associate dean of OHIO’s College of Business. “Welcoming Ohio Business Week to campus this summer will give high school students the same applied learning experiences that our college students take part in every day.”

Students will be immersed in entrepreneurial and business learning throughout the week. They will preview what it is like to work on a real-life, project-based team – from working with different personalities and work styles to learning leadership and entrepreneurship skills directly from business professionals.

“Ohio Business Week is the perfect opportunity for high school students who are thinking about majoring in business to explore their career options,” said John Davis, executive director for the Ohio Business Week Foundation. “We’re excited to partner with Ohio University’s College of Business and know their faculty will bring exceptional industry and academic insight to this year’s summer camp.”

While on campus, students will also participate in the Emerging Entrepreneur Project (EEP). During the EEP, each student team will research and write business, financial and marketing plans; design a web page; construct a trade show display; and create an advertising campaign to promote their product. The EEP Competition culminates as each team gives a presentation to a panel of business professionals who pose as venture capitalists.

“The College of Business is looking forward to hosting Ohio Business Week this summer and providing support for OBW's faculty team,” said Moberg. “Together, we’re providing high school students with an exclusive learning opportunity and giving them a glimpse of what it is like to be a Business Bobcat.”
